Adele - make you feel my love

At the beginning of this video it sets the location and narrative. The location is a loud city because of all the lights being on and the narrative of Adele texting someone on her phone which suggests this video is about a current or ex boyfriend. The camera shows a shot of a close up of a building with Adele in one of them which can suggest she is feeling lonely and upset as she is in a big city, yet she is locked away in  an apartment.There is a shot where Adele is looking out of the window and at the city to suggest she is isolating herself from everyone as she is feeling emotional.

There are many close ups of Adele which enable the audience to see her emotions aswell as focus on her the artist, as the close ups help sell her as an artist.

There is barely any narrative so we the audience focus on her with the close ups and mid shots. However there is narative with the beginning so the audience understand and match the lyrics with the visuals

One Direction Website

This is what we see when we go on the One Direction website. We see the logo for the band '1D', the font that is used on one direction merchandise.

Having different countries listed suggests their worldwide popularity and that if someone from Germany cant read English they are able to click on the image of the German flag and the website will be translated into German.

Having their twitter feed live keeps the fans updated if they dont have twitter themselves. A sense of knowing, gives the fans a sense of being in the know of what is going on. This also promotes twitter because if fans see that they have twitter, they might create a twitter account so they can interact and contact with the band on twitter.

Having a merchandise page will allow the fans to perchase products that arent available in stores.

Signing up to a newsletter will allow the fans to feel as if they are in the know about One Direction. By signing up they will recieve emails/texts about their latest gigs,signings, releases etc.

Having this image on the homepage shows the fans the kind of band they are; silly which may increase their popularity. This image is also the cover for their album so it also promotes the album.

  Showing the social network logo's allows the fans to interact with the band and feel as if they are being noticed by them if they answer a question that has been posted by them on Facebook or Twitter. It also gives the fans the latest up to date information about the band.

Tracklist Ideas

Before we were told that we had to choose a track by an unknown artist our group came up with a good list of songs that we could do.
This list consisted of 'The Saturdays' and 'Ed Sheeran' as we thought they had songs that were easy to create music videos for as most of their songs had a story within the lyrics.

We were planning on doing 'Open Up' by 'The Saturdays' as its about an old relationship i think songs like these are the most easy to create as the lyrics can help choose the shot, and what is happening within that shot. For example we were going to have the performance of four/five girls sing in an open space as the song is called 'open up and have different shots to represent the visuals of the lyrics. For example, for the chorus when they sing 'oh baby open up the door' we thought of having one of the girls in the band lean againt a door as if she is at her ex's wanting to be let in and we shoot another shot of the ex on the other side listening but not opening the door. This song was a good song as straight away ideas came to us as the lyrics helped us imagine where a person would say these words etc.

Our other option was Ed Sheeran with either 'Lego House' or 'Small Bump' as the beat of both the songs were quite slow so the editing process would be easier. Our idea for 'Lego House' was simple as the most simple videos are seen as the most effective. For 'Lego House' was that a house made out of lego would get bigger and bigger. This would be a cut away as we are not showing the artist. This idea is the complete opposite to Ed's music video for this song as we see no visuals of a 'lego house' which i think makes the music video more interesting as he is suggesting its not about the visuals, but its about the lyrics and emotions within the song.

For 'Small Bump' its a more emotional song as its about a baby dying. Our main idea was that our artist was sitting around a fire or somewhere with dark lighting with just a candle or fire to represent how the artist is feeling and the fire representing the baby. This music video would of been a narrative of the months going by of the girlfriend being pregnant. We would of also used the black and white effect to show its a memory and the performance part would be in colour to show its now in the present what the artist is feeling.

latest filming

Our Latest filming sessions was taken at Richmond Park. We thought this would be a good location as not only is it a huge park where we can film cut aways, but also as a reference to the memories of being there with her boyfriend.
One of the shots we took i had taken reference from One Direction's music video ;Gotta Be You' which is when the camera rotates around the Harry from One Direction.
This shot is at 1:57 till 1:59.

Reference from Rihanna

One of our shots was going to be our artist singing up against a wall with memories of the couple being projected on the wall. This idea was inspired by Rihanna's video 'We Found Love'. By showing the memories, it signifies that even though the guy is gone, the memories are still there.This song also links into the story of our music video as its about a previous relationship.

New shot idea

We are coming up with more and more ideas as the filming is going along which isnt included in the original storyboard. Our latest idea is for the performance scene of the music video were have close ups and extreme close ups of our artist and her hair is blowing. We will do this by having a hair dryer out of the frame so the hair recieves as much wind as possible.
